Unbelievable! Chief of the Southern Command treats Colombian and Brazilian generals as lackeys

It is not a conspiracy theory or rhetoric of the Latin American left to attack US imperialism and its new forms of colonialism against the region, it is simply a fact. With the arrival of the new conservative far-right governments, regional sovereignty has been handed over to the United States regime, and proof of this was carried out by generals from Colombia and Brazil in an open television broadcast.
Perhaps some could consider it as unbelievable, although it is not, but surely — at least — it was outrageous to see the head of the Southern Command of the US armed force, Craig Faller, address a couple of Latin American generals as if they were inferior to him and even worse, that they were at his complete disposal as one more soldier of his troops.
The television broadcast only confirms the level of servility to which the regimes of Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil and Iván Duque in Colombia have fallen, who make the military chiefs of their armed forces available to submit to the authority of Washington, acting as lackeys for the renewal of the Monroe doctrine and the new conservatism that is intended to be imposed on the American continent.
Standing firm before Donald Trump and heeding Faller’s orders was what the supposed best soldiers did, according to the head of the Southern Command, from Colombia and Brazil, who ‘work for him without having to pay them a penny for it’.
The mission, without a doubt, is to give a media message for warlike purposes to Venezuela and the world, in which it is noted that the two countries with which the Bolivarian nation borders are — supposedly — militarily dominated by the US regime.
Another message that is completely clear is the complicity and the surrender of sovereignty of the command of the Brazilian and Colombian troops to the military leadership of the Pentagon, a fact for which Bolsonaro and Duque do not hesitate to shake hands, especially when the argument is the supposed fight against drug trafficking, a scourge in which both nations are — contradictorily — the ones that allow the greatest traffic to Europe and the United States.
Colombia and Brazil pay to give away their sovereignty
In a televised conversation between Faller and Trump, the Chief Admiral of the Southern Command tells the US president that among his ranks is the best soldier of Colombia ‘working for him’ and he was also sent to the United States paid by Uribista President Iván Duque.
“Stand up”, Faller tells the Colombian soldier identified as “Brigadier General Juan Carlos Correa”, who immediately stood firm for Trump.
“President Duque sent us his best soldier and paid for it, so he came here fully paid by Colombia and works for me. It is an acknowledgment that Colombia was with us in the world, in the Korean War and they are with us today”, adds Faller.
Next, Faller introduces another military man, this time a Brazilian who is also under his command.
“And our Brazilian president, Bolsonaro, sent us a very new addition to our headquarters, Major General David, one of the strongest men in the Brazilian Armed Forces, he is in the J5 Organization”, says the head of the Southern Command.
“Again, Brazil pays for him to come here and work for me”, says Faller, who adds that “Brazil has been with us since the Second World War and our relationship is strengthening every day more”.
Humiliating colonialism
On the incident, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, expressed his outrage. Through Twitter, he pointed out: “When we see this scene, our blood boils, the one that runs through the open veins of the peoples of our Latin America and the Caribbean. I don’t even want to imagine the outrage that the peoples and military of Colombia and Brazil will feel. Independence or nothing!”.
On this broadcast, presented on television as part of the Trump presidential campaign, the Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, also commented: “Trump and his henchmen see Colombian and Brazilian generals as employees who owe him obedience”.
“It is the humiliating colonialism that they want to impose on Venezuela”, added the Venezuelan diplomat.
Moncada also noted that the fight in Venezuela “is for national dignity and independence” and that is why “the soldiers of Venezuela are not employees of Trump!”.
For several weeks, the Southern Command has been maneuvering in the Caribbean trying to violate Venezuelan maritime sovereignty, generating continuous threats to provoke an unprecedented war in the region. It does so with the excuse of fighting drug trafficking, but with these ‘maneuvers’ they only protect the largest drug distribution network to the United States and Europe.
Bullying or entrapment?
Days ago, the Southern Command had one of its warships, which also has nuclear weapons on board, sailing near the territorial waters of Venezuela.
In principle, the warship said it approached the Venezuelan border area to make alleged “freedom of navigation” maneuvers and to challenge the Maduro regime, which — according to Faller — wanted to exceed its maritime borders.
Subsequently, the United States violated Venezuelan territorial waters, in an evident incursion seeking a military response from Venezuela, which would allow them to carry out warlike actions against Caracas.
The Minister of Defense of Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino López, and the head of the Strategic Operational Command of the Armed Forces, Remigio Ceballos, reiterated that if the United States goes beyond its bellicose actions within Venezuelan territorial waters, they will receive a forceful and lethal response.
The actions of the United States against Venezuela have intensified in the military sphere since Colombia, in 2018, joined as an observer member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a lobby that administers and manages the wars led by Washington and the European Union in the Middle East.
Last March, Bolsonaro signed an agreement with the head of the Southern Command, which allows expanding defense cooperation ties between the two countries and sharing information on the cooperation and development of new defense, intelligence, technology and research capabilities.
The signing of the agreement was carried out by classifying Brazil as “an extra preferential ally” of NATO and it took place in the facilities of the Southern Command, in Miami, Florida, from where the United States military operations are directed in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
The Government of Brazil explained that the objective of signing the Defense agreement, called RDT & E, is to pave the way for the two governments to develop “joint defense projects aligned with the mutual interest of the parties, covering the possibility of improving or provide new military capabilities”.
